Job Purpose


You will lead a team within the Financial & Regulatory Reporting section. The team works closely with various teams within Group Finance, Business Units and IT to gather complete and accurate data and financial information to ensure timely and accurate GL closing and Financial and Regulatory Reporting. 


The Job


  • Responsible for daily insurance accounting and related regulatory reporting and ensuring proper accounting under the regulatory framework of Singapore Life, Brunei Life and General Insurance entities;
  • Liaise with external auditors to prepare annual Financial Statements according to Financial Reporting Standards and Regulatory Returns according to MAS and AMBD regulations;
  • Ensure proper accounting records of Investment-Linked Funds, which include cash flows, funds payable, subscription/redemptions and reserving;
  • Ensure proper accounting records of Reinsurance, which include settlements and accruals and liaise with Reinsurance Actuary;
  • Review of work processes and controls to improve effectiveness and efficiency of reporting process;
  • Maintain a robust financial reporting system to ensure information timeliness and accuracy;
  • Manage the day to day operations for financial reporting team on bank reconciliations, Fixed Assets maintenance, inter-company billings and various other balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Review full-set accounts (include GL and Financial Statements) of all Let-Out Properties accounts (LOP) and 218 Orchard. Liaise with OPS and Knight Frank on any discrepancies issues on LOP;
  • Review of work processes and controls to improve effectiveness and efficiency of financial closing and reporting;
  • Manage team involvements in ad hoc assignments to support Group Finance and other company’s initiatives as required;
  • Keep abreast of developments in accounting standards, statutory and regulatory requirements; and
  • Build up the capability of the team by training, job rotation and effective team back up plans.


Job Requirements

Our Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Accountancy or ACCA or its equivalent;
  • Preferably 5-7 years of relevant working experience with 3 years in a team lead role. Candidates with life and/or general insurance accounting experience have a distinct advantage;
  • Strong finance personnel with good business acumen and confidence to engage and influence business owners;
  • Good knowledge of the accounting and insurance regulatory regimes in Singapore;
  • Team player with good people management and leadership skills; and
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
