The Job

  • Lead a team of developers (internal or vendor) to build, enhance or maintain General Insurance Point-of-Sales applications.
  • Support the team in all matters related to application architecture, design & implementation.
  • Conduct relevant technical presentations to stakeholders.
  • Work with Project Manager to schedule & prioritise project and/or BAU tasks.
  • Work with Business Analysts to confirm business requirements & translate these into technical specifications.
  • Ensure technical documentations are complete & updated.
  • Oversee, plan & distribute work tasks to technical team members.

Our Requirements

  • Proficient in Java, with a good knowledge of its ecosystems.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
  • Skill for writing reusable Java libraries.
  • Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java.
  • Familiarity with concepts of SOA, MVC, JDBC, and RESTful services.
  • Implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Basic understanding of JVM, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds.
  • Analyze and perform evaluation on defect raised by user to further advice.
  • Provide support for SIT/ UAT.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with minimum direction and management oversight.
  • Recognized University degree in IT.
  • Other IT-specific certifications e.g. TOGAF & insurance certifications are desired.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in application development & delivery.
  • Preferably with General or Life Insurance domain knowledge.
  • Experienced in Service-oriented architecture, RESTful web-service, automation testing and performance tuning.
