 Job Purpose


You will lead a team within the Financial & Regulatory Reporting section focused on maintaining a robust financial control environment. The team works closely with various teams within Group Finance, Business Units and IT to drive system and process improvements; and is responsible for ensuring completeness and accuracy of source system and bank data for timely and accurate financial reporting.

The Job


  • Oversee the day to day operations within the Financial & Regulatory Accounting team focusing on staff management, resource allocation and process improvement. Build up the capability of the team by training, job rotation and effective team back up plans;
  • Oversee the timely and accurate month end closing of financial accounts for Singapore entities. Guide team in the follow up of outstanding reconciliation items and liaison with respective Business Units and IT for timely resolution and clearance of issues and reconciling items;
  • Ensure the accounting records adhere to Singapore reporting requirements and comply with all legal, statutory and corporate affairs requirements;
  • Establish and maintain a robust financial accounting system and process to ensure information timeliness and accuracy;
  • Development and management of appropriate internal controls and risk management procedures;
  • Guide and coach the team to streamline / change work processes and internal controls to improve effectiveness and efficiency of reconciliations and financial closing;
  • Liaise with external auditors on audit matters, co-ordinate audit process as well as preparation of reporting packs to Audit Committees and Boards, where necessary;
  • Supervise the team’s participation in all relevant system enhancements, data patching and other IT requests to resolve unreconciled differences, and related User Acceptance Testing verification where required;
  •  Lead and/or participate as key stakeholder in cross-functional system enhancement projects initiated to address interface issues between source systems and general ledger that result in long outstanding unreconciled differences; and
  • Manage team involvements in ad hoc assignments to support Group Finance and other company’s initiatives as required.


Job Requirements

Our Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualifications;
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience with minimum 5 years of supervisory capacity. Candidates with insurance industry experience have an added advantage;
  • Good knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards and insurance regulation in Singapore;
  • Positive attitude, ability to work independently and works well under pressure to meet tight reporting timelines;
  • A self-starter who is goal-orientated, resourceful and have a can-do attitude;
  • Strong analytical, numerical and meticulous, have an eye for details;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong team player with good people management skills and leadership skills; and
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office application, especially MS Excel and system application.
